Freedom Day should be renamed 'The Day Maties got Thrashed by UCT'.
After some disappointing clashes with our arch rivals - losing to them 16-37 in rugby at home during the Varsity Cup, Ladies hockey suffering a loss and Men's hockey almost but not enough 2-2 draw, it was grand to see the Ladies Soccer First Team taking a Maties side to the cleaners.
Playing away from home, the game ended with what sounds more like a tennis score 0-6 to UCT!
Ana Rayn got a hatrick, with the rest of the UCT goals coming from Julia Cassar, Gina Anstey and Allison Dorey.
The team's next clash is a USSA fixture against Tsiba at Pinelands on Wednesday 4 April, before an exciting game on Friday 6 April against the University of Namibia!
