Last Sunday, May 1, saw former Ikey Tigers captain Stu Commins warming the bench for the Northhampton Saints in their Heineken Cup semi-final against Perpignan.
Commins - who joined Northampton after last year's Varsity Cup Final, having been a UCT stalwart between 2008 and 2010 - wore the No.21 shirt on Sunday as he backed up starting No.9 Lee Dickson. He got a bit of game time and we at UCT are wishing him luck for the Saints final against Leinster on 21 May.
Of course, Commins is not the only former Varsity Cup player currently playing abroad. His ex-UCT teammate Mat Turner is an England Sevens international, whilst former Ikeys captain JJ Gagiano is in line to make the USA Rugby World Cup squad - having already played 11 Tests for the Eagles.
