After their emphatic victory against Maties last weekend, the Ikey Tigers faced another big clash this past Saturday against False Bay in Constantia. A fair crowd came out in the berg weather to see which Southern Suburbs team would claim the Mark Jordaan Memorial Trophy.
A scrappy game, the scores remained tight in the first half with Ikeys inside centre, Nick Holton, scoring the only try in those first 40 min. Ikeys went into the break with a 16 - 12 lead and things opened up a bit more in the second half for the blue and white storm as they claimed a 36 - 22 victory at full time.
They Ikey Tigers play their last Round 1 fixture next Saturday, 28 May, against Villagers on the Green Mile. Kickoff is at 4pm with rugby being played on the ground from 13h30.
